Beginning season 2001, Kanto Cup has been renamed to Kanto Cricket League, which is one of the many initiatives the JCA has taken to streamline the competition structure in Japan. The tournament lasts the whole season as the matches are played only on the week ends. The cricket season in Japan is from April to November.
